| | Module 2 consists of a 2-day training that builds on the knowledge and skills introduced in Module 1 (required pre-requisite). Focus will be on sequencing, flow, verbal coaching cues, modifications and adaptations – especially as pertains to working with older adults, osteoporosis, elevated blood pressure. Theory and practice of hands on alignment, as well as many other class presentation skills including multi-level classes. A practical component which takes place the second day of the training, ensures that teachers graduating from this program have incorporated the knowledge, and demonstrated the skills necessary to qualify for Fitness Yoga Teacher Certification. |

The curriculum focuses on how Yoga works, the history and philosophical
groundings of Yoga, and an exploration of the fundamental poses of Yoga.
The style of yoga is Vinyasa Flow Yoga – a dynamic system that marries

classes, the purpose of each asana, verbal cueing, and some hands-on

Yoga Teacher Training Eligibility
While we recommend a home practice of at least one year, anyone
sincerely interested in Yoga is most welcome to enroll in the course in
order to expand his or her own practice and knowledge with or without
the desire for yoga certification. Our school recognizes its responsibility
for maintaining its excellent reputation for high standards. Teaching
certificate is awarded on the basis of successful comprehension and

Workshop 2: Beyond the Base MOves with Gentle Aqua
Variety is the spice of life, yet a solid foundation is essential. This four-hour session will revisit the subtleties of the CALA Base moves. This will provide ample opportunity to fine tune demonstration techniques while carefully integrating effective visual and verbal cue to ensure participants execute each move safely and effectively. Springing from this solid foundation is the chance to play with each move, exploring how to go beyond the base moves, while keeping gentle aqua as the cornerstone of the workout. This session will enable you to return to a base move for clients who require simple moves and add spice and flare for clients who need more of a challenge and enjoy creativity. Arrive with a playful spirit that is fully grounded in the moment!

| | Working with osteoporosis patients takes specialized knowledge. Using improper exercise techniques can increase the patient’s risk of fracturing and will limit their ability to stop bone loss and increase bone mass. The first four hours of this course will teach trainers how to design a safe and effective training program for the osteoporosis patient. Information being provided will include: Understanding the disease, medications, assessment, stopping bone loss, increasing bone mass, the implementation of proper exercise techniques and program design.
During the second four hours, information about how to assess and train clients with the following diseases and physical problems will be provided: Diabetes, fibromyalgia, high blood pressure, postural issues, obesity risk factors, carpal tunnel syndrome and cancer. The impact of fatigue on strength gains, proprioception, the implications of the squat exercise and the back extension exercise on back health will be discussed. |

| | This workshop is about building bridges and linking exercises. We build bridges to overcome obstacles, basically, to get from one place to another with ease and comfort. Linking signifies connection, joining movements together into a chain of exercises by complementing arms with legs, manipulating tempo, playing with buouancy, altering range of motion and/or changing surface area. Both processes result in smooth transitions, enabling participants to put their full attention and effort into each and every movement. This linear style of structuring a class can be easily modified to accommodate beginners and to challenge hard core fitness buffs. The key is flow with fun and focus.

| | This module is open to anyone with a sincere interest in learning more about the Tradition of Yoga. If you are presently a fitness instructor, body flow instructor, personal trainer, massage therapist, program director or if you simply wish to deepen your own yoga practice, you are an excellent candidate for Module 1. There are no pre-requisites. You will learn all the basic postures of yoga, along with some adaptations. Safety considerations will be taught, as well as an introduction to yoga philosophy and history. An in-depth manual and class formats are provided and a Certificate of Attendance is presented to everyone at the end of Module 1. You may teach yoga with this certificate course, or you may wish to continue on with your yoga journey. Everyone is welcome.

| | Using current rehabilitation principles, this course teaches the fitness trainer how to perform a simple and efficient examination of clients to assess for muscular imbalances, weakness and inflexibility. These tests form a solid basis and foundation to determine when clients are at risk of injury with training, and at what level of training they should begin at. Graduated step-by-step exercises are given that are specific to the management of the imbalances and weaknesses found, as well as exercises designed to prevent common injuries, such as low back, shoulder and knee problems. Specific injury protocols will be discussed. Workshop practice and case studies (using real clients) solidify the information and gives hands-on practical training to all trainers.

There are no pre-requisites. You will learn all the basic postures of yoga, along with some adaptations.
