Why did you choose canfitpro?

CanFitPro was recommended to me. I researched it and chose it as the most appropriate and reputable company.

What is your “why”. Why have you chosen this profession?

I have struggled with my weight my entire life. I was three years old the first time I remember being called fat and it has stuck with me. In high school, I struggled with eating disorders and self-esteem issues. When I was 19 I was diagnosed with a heart condition. It wasn’t until after college, when I ballooned to my heaviest weight, that I made the decision to change my health for good. I started a regular exercise program and began eating healthier. The weight dropped quickly and I looked forward to my daily workouts. In fact, I craved them. I dropped 60 pounds in 6 months and have kept most of the weight off. People were complimenting me and asking for advice. When a friend suggested I become a personal trainer with CanFitPro, I jumped at the opportunity to get my certification. I also got my certification as a Healthy Eating and Weight Loss Coach.

What gets you excited to go to work each day?

I can’t imagine not doing this! I hit the point years ago where I crave my workouts and I haven’t lost that yet. My workouts are constantly on my mind and I’m always looking for ways to challenge my clients – and myself. I sometimes lay in bed late at night creating new programs.

Whenever I have a new client or begin a new session of a class or a training program, I am giddy with excitement to see my clients excited to set and attain new goals with their health. I find inspiration for workouts everywhere I look and I want everyone to see that they, too, can change their lives!

What do you enjoy the most about what you do?

I find so much satisfaction in seeing other people succeed. I heard so much negative feedback from others when I began my weight-loss journey – mostly from people who wanted to see me fail because they weren’t able to succeed. Yes, those people exist. So, I am more than happy to be a personal cheerleader for others to help them succeed.

Is there another part of your story that you would like to share?

There is a quote I heard a few years after I began my healthy living journey that really changed everything – “If you’re not willing to do the work, you’re not ready to lose the weight.” This may not be true for everyone, but for me, it resonated 100%. Growing up, I wanted to thin out but I didn’t really understand what it took to do so (that’s about when the eating disorders began). I wanted the “quick fix” and instead, I did damage to my body and mind. It wasn’t until I educated myself about fitness and nutrition and actually started to put the work in that my health and life changed. Once I began to do the work, I was ready to lose the weight – and from there my entire outlook on health, fitness, weight, self-worth, and all the rest changed for the better.
