Includes the topics covered in CPR Level A, as well as a close look at automated external defibrillators (AEDs), small, lightweight devices that look at the person’s heart rhythm and can recognize ventricular fibrillation (VF), also known as “sudden cardiac arrest” or SCA. Research has shown that AED programs can increase survival rates from 5% to 75%. This course teaches how the heart works, the need for AEDs, and safe techniques for AED use in cases of sudden cardiac arrest.
