Common Medical Conditions and Exercise Prescriptions for the Older Adult

Presented by Ona McDonald

As Canadians live longer, they face medical issues that can profoundly affect their quality of life. These conditions can often mean limitations and contraindications to exercise. Older adult specialists have many ways to encourage their clients to exercise and participate in the activities of daily living within their scope of ability and without inflaming their medical problems. In this full-day workshop, you'll learn more about common conditions like arthritis, osteoporosis, diabetes, heart disease, knee and hip replacements (before and after), spinal conditions, and shoulder and elbow pain. We'll discuss exercises, modifications, and programming for the older adult living with one or more of these medical conditions.
