Events
Events
canfitpro has the world’s best events for fitness professionals. Combining great opportunities to obtain continuing education with networking and world-class trade shows, these are events you do not want to miss!
Whether you are picking up Continuing Education Credits (CECs) for recertification, attending to upgrade your education or to network, canfitpro events have something for everyone.
For your convenience, your conference Certificate of Completion will be available to download from your Member Profile in your canfitpro Portal account, approximately four (4) weeks after the conference.
To maintain the integrity of the event, only paying delegates, volunteers, and those approved by canfitpro are invited to attend sessions. Any attendees found violating these rules will be removed from the session/venue and their canfitpro membership and certification(s) will be revoked.
Big member benefit! canfitpro members will automatically receive access to post-event recordings. Don't worry! Non-Members can gain access to post-event recordings by selecting the $20 add-on during registration. You will be notified via email when recordings for your event are available, including the viewing period.
You will be emailed login information to access your sessions leading up to the event, and again on event day.
Please ensure you arrive on time for your session. If you arrive 20 minutes after the session starts, you will have missed a substantial part of the education and and may not be eligible for CECs
For online events, you will be required to provide your own equipment, if applicable. To prepare for event day, please check our page of equipment substitution suggestions.
Video recordings are not permitted, however, we encourage you to share your online event experience on social media (images of your laptop, tagging presenters and canfitpro, etc).
Your feedback is important to us and we read every evaluation submitted. After the conference, you will receive a link to our conference survey, where you can provide your opinion on every aspect of the Conference. Please take the time to complete the survey and help us provide you with your best conference experience.
A delegate is registered for the event.
Event rates are priced based on member and non-member rates. As a benefit to be a canfitpro member, the member rate is a lower cost. Each event includes registration fees applicable to the size of the event. Please refer to the registration details of the event you’re interested in attending, to view the rates.
Intensive workshops are priced based on member and non-member rates and the length of the intensive workshop. Prices are listed with the descriptions of each intensive workshop available at each event.

Confirmation and receipt is received via email immediately once the registration is complete.
No, we welcome all fitness enthusiasts to our events. The diverse curriculum available at each event tailors to both fitness professionals and fitness enthusiasts.
We welcome all participants. canfitpro members enjoy the low member rates. If you are not a member, canfitpro offers a special non-member rate.
If you are canfitpro certified, you will receive CECs for attending the event. Please reference the specific event page for details on how many CECs are awarded for that particular event. For CECs from organizations not listed, please contact your certification agency to inquire about petitioning for credit recognition.
No fees are applied for changing sessions. Delegates can go back into their registration by clicking on the link in their confirmation email and change sessions as they please.
60+ day: no cancellation penalties
5-59 days: 15% administration fee
Less than 5 days prior to event: no refunds or cancellations
All event cancellations must be received in writing to info@canfitpro.com. Cancellations received more than 60 days prior to the published start date of the event will not incur a cancellation penalty.
Cancellations received between 60 and five (5) days prior to the published start date of the event will be charged an administration fee of 15% of the total conference registration fee (plus applicable taxes).
No refunds will be issued for cancellations received less than five (5) days prior to the published start date of the event.
No refunds or credits will be given for no-shows, partially used registrations, on-site registrations or membership fees.
It is not permissible to split a registration between two people. Delegates found violating this rule will be expelled from the event without refund.
Group Registration is available for groups of 10 or more. Please complete the "group registration form" and submit to the Membership Experience Team at info@canfitpro.com

Yes. We recommend selecting the role(s) that you believe are the best fit based on your current skills and abilities, as well as what is best for the next step in your career. CPR/AED
Effective January 1, 2026, all canfitpro certified members must hold a valid CPR A & AED or CPR C & AED certificate issued within the past two years to meet certification requirements.
Starting January 1, 2026, a minimum of CPR A & AED, issued within the last two years, is required for certification. All canfitpro CPR courses will include AED training. Certificates issued by canfitpro will be valid for two years from the date of issue.
These updates align with industry standards for lifesaving education and ensure best practices for retraining frequency and AED usage, enhancing safety for all.
AED training is now essential, as AEDs significantly improve survival rates in emergencies. Increased AED availability means fitness professionals must be prepared to use this equipment confidently.
No. Only certificates issued on or after January 1, 2026, will be valid for two years. Certificates issued before this date must be renewed in 2026.
No. CPR is a practical skill that requires in-person, hands-on training. The requirement for in-person course completion remains unchanged.
After January 1, 2026, you must complete an in-person CPR A & AED course within the last two years to maintain or obtain certification. Certificates issued before this date will not be valid for two years; a new course must be completed in 2026.
No. Certification and membership renewals remain annual requirements for all canfitpro certified members.
Yes. While canfitpro allows renewal every two years, you may recertify more often to meet employer or personal requirements.
No. Regardless of the expiry date on the certificate, only those issued on or after January 1, 2026, will be valid for two years under canfitpro policy.
You are responsible for meeting all requirements set by your employer, insurance, certifying body, and other organizations. canfitpro’s policy is a minimum of CPR A & AED from an in-person course within the past two years. Higher-level or more frequent certifications are acceptable for canfitpro requirements.

There are two types of membership: Professional Membership / Business Membership
The Professional Membership is most suitable for individuals interested in becoming fitness professionals and participating in canfitpro courses, exams, and events, as well as fitness enthusiasts who would like to be a part of a professional fitness organization.
The Business Membership is most beneficial to club owners and operators. Benefits include job postings, incentives, and discounts for staff on certifications, conferences, etc.

To become canfitpro-certified or to retain your certification, you need to invest in/renew your Professional Membership with canfitpro on an annual basis. Without a current membership, your certification is not valid.
If you are a certified member, your expiry date will not change. You will need to back pay your membership fees to validate your certification. If you are a non-certified member, your expiry date will change to the end of the current month of payment plus one (1) year.

If you are sending in a cheque, please attach your cheque to the registration form you are sending.

Yes. If you are opting to pay for your membership for the next two years, please indicate this when sending in your payment. Please note, certified members must also send us proof of 4.0 CECs per discipline and have a valid CPR on file, even if your membership is pre-paid for two (2) years.
You can request a cheque refund through email/phone, which may take up to three (3) weeks to receive. You can request a credit card refund through e-mail/phone, which takes about one (1) week to be processed.

Recertification
Recertifying on time every year ensures your credibility as a fitness professional
You’ll have an up-to-date copy of your certification to display, provide to employers, show clients, and secure insurance
A valid certification creates more employment and promotion opportunities for you, as well as client retention and personal integrity
Recertification demonstrates your commitment to ongoing education and your dedication to skill development within the ever-changing fitness industry
A valid certification is required for liability insurance
If your expiry date is more than one (1) year you must complete both the Theory and Practical Exams again. Your certification date will be adjusted to reflect the new date.
Extension fees and reinstatement fees are non-refundable.
One of the many benefits of completing your continuing education with canfitpro: we track all your activities with us and keep a record of all the CECs you have accumulated.

CECs sent for recertification will only be accepted if the submission is within one year from the date it was achieved. A certification of completion that is more than a year old from the date it is submitted will not be considered for CECs.

Your membership is active for one year from the registration date, with the option to renew annually.
To qualify, your business must have a minimum of three staff members, including the owner.
Absolutely! Depending on your Business Membership tier, you can share an exclusive 15–25% discount with your staff for use on eligible canfitpro offerings.

No. The complimentary canfitpro Professional Membership is a one-time benefit for first-time Silver Business Members only. However, you may still apply your 15% discount to a Professional Membership.
Yes! As the account holder, you will continue to receive a complimentary canfitpro Professional Membership with each Gold renewal.

Yes, anyone in the world can take our courses. Our PRO TRAINERS offer both in-person courses in Canada and virtual courses through Zoom. canfitpro certifications are recognized nationally and internationally. You will not need to pay “transfer fees” if you move between provinces.
To ensure maximum engagement and participation, our virtual courses are live and not recorded. If you purchase the Full Certification package, please select the course with the times that you can attend. If you are unable to attend one of the live virtual classes, you will miss the education for that day.
No, we frequently have fitness enthusiasts take the course for general interest.
We recommend that candidates attempt the Theory Exam approximately 3 – 5 weeks after taking the course. This gives adequate time to prepare for the exam. Those who choose the option to progress and become a certified Personal Training Specialist will complete a Theory and Practical Exam. These two components assess your theoretical knowledge, rapport building skills, and practical application of fitness theory to train clients. The Theory Exam consists of multiple-choice questions, plus a written client case study. The Practical Exam is an actual workout with a client that is evaluated by your PRO TRAINER.
Do you want to work one-on-one with individuals or in a group setting? The Personal Training Specialist (PTS) certification will prepare you to work with individuals or small groups of up to 10 clients. The PTS certification qualifies you to evaluate, design, and monitor individual and small group training programs in health clubs, home, workplace, and virtual settings.
The Fitness Instructor Specialist (FIS) certification prepares you to lead large groups and teach safe and effective exercise classes. Learn to teach bootcamp, dance, step, martial arts, and traditionally inspired group fitness classes. The FIS certification includes leadership, motivation, practical training (class design, cueing, coaching, and multi-level teaching using music) to help you become a world-class group exercise instructor.
You do not need to be an elite athlete to certify as a fitness professional! The fitness industry needs a broad range of professionals from different backgrounds, abilities, and body types. You will be exercising throughout the canfitpro course, but rest assured, all exercises can be modified by your PRO TRAINER. Please choose the option that suits your abilities. If you need special accommodations during your course or exam, please contact your PRO TRAINER.

- An administration fee of 15% (+ applicable tax) of the total course and/or exam fee (excluding canfitpro membership and all course materials) will be charged
- If it is less than five (5) days’ notice you are not eligible to change your course or exam date
- Changes made more than 60 days in advance of the course or exam will not be charged an administration fee
canfitpro reserves the right to cancel a previously scheduled course or exam if minimal participation requirements are not met. Your PRO TRAINER will contact you should a course or exam be cancelled. Please confirm the status of your course or exam with your PRO TRAINER prior to attending. If a course or exam is cancelled by the PRO TRAINER, canfitpro will work with you to reschedule your course or exam. If we are unable to reschedule, participants may be eligible for a refund of course or exam fees, and membership (only within 30 days of purchase). Course materials are non-refundable.
Regular shipping will take 10 business days. Express shipping is available at an additional cost and will take three (3) to four (4) business days.

Once you pass your Practical Exam, your PRO TRAINER will update your status in the canfitpro member portal. You may request a PDF of your certification document (to print or email to employers) within your member portal. Click here to login.

Fitness Instructor Specialist
A canfitpro certified Fitness Instructor Specialist is qualified to:
- Evaluate participant needs in physical activity based on the philosophies in the Fitness Instructor Specialist program
- Create an exciting exercise environment for participants and lead group fitness classes using music
- Confirm that participants have completed the Physical Activity Readiness Questionnaire (PAR-Q developed by Health Canada), and then provide a group exercise class to apparently healthy individuals who have no known major medical conditions
- Monitor group fitness class participants on intensity, technique, and safety to meet their needs appropriately during each class
- Teach within their level of ability and progress to more advanced or specialized class formats once competency to teach the required skills safely is achieved
- Promote the benefits of regular physical activity and a balanced lifestyle using canfitpro’s Recommendations on Physical Activity, Nutrition, and Positive Mindset for Optimal Health
- Provide general advice on nutrition based on Canada’s Food Guide. Individuals who require more specific advice on diet and supplements must be referred to a qualified nutrition professional
- Answer general questions for participants on injuries or discomforts related to exercise. All injuries must be diagnosed and treated by a qualified medical professional.
- Provide emergency care based on the participant needs (contact EMS, provide Emergency First Aid or CPR)
As a certified Fitness Instructor Specialist (FIS), I agree to provide a safe and effective group exercise class that provides appropriate exercise selection and intensity to meet the individual needs of each adult in the group.
As a certified Fitness Instructor Specialist (FIS), I agree to respect my role, abide by the Code of Ethics, and work within my Standards of Practice at all times.
I recognize that failure to follow this Standards of Practice will result in immediate removal of my FIS certification designation.

Yes, anyone in the world can take our courses. Our PRO TRAINERS offer both in-person courses in Canada and online courses through Zoom.
To ensure maximum engagement and participation, our online courses are live and not recorded. When choosing your course date and time, please select the course that you can attend.
We recommend that candidates attempt the exam approximately three (3) weeks after taking the course. This time frame is recommended in order to allow candidates to properly prepare for the exam. Those who choose the option to progress and become a certified Healthy Eating & Weight Loss Coach will complete an online exam. The exam assesses the candidate’s knowledge and skills to coach healthy eating habits within their scope of practice. The online exam consists of 75 multiple choice questions and 15 short answer questions. There is no Practical Exam for the HWL certification.

Yes, however, it is not recommended. In order to obtain the best possible results from your courses and exams, we suggest completing one designation at a time. This allows you to focus on learning, studying and applying your knowledge in one certification before switching to another program.

80% or higher is the passing mark for the online exam. You must re-test if you do not achieve at least 80%. The exam rewrite fee is $99 (+ applicable tax).
You have six (6) months to complete your online exam after completion of your certification course. After successfully completing your Theory Exam. Missing this deadline may result in you needing to complete the full exam process again and pay an exam rewrite fee. To maintain your certification, you must:
- Renew your membership annually
- Earn 4.0 CECs per year per certification you hold. You can earn CECs:

canfitpro certifications are recognized nationally and internationally. You will not need to pay “transfer fees” if you move between provinces.
Adult CPR with AED (CPR Level A & AED) certification obtained during a live course is required to become certified. First aid is recommended although not required. CPR certificates issued on or after January 1, 2026 will be considered valid fortwo (2) years from the date it was originally issued.
Due to the high-risk nature of our industry, it is extremely important to refresh your CPR & AED skills annually so you can respond confidently in an emergency. canfitpro strives to exceed industry standards on a national and international level. Requiring CPR and other skills be updated annually ensures that we can do this.
Here are our course/exam change policies:
- To make a change we require a minimum of five (5) days written notice via email at info@canfitpro.com
- An administration fee of 15% (+ applicable tax) of the total course and/or exam fee (excluding canfitpro membership and all course materials) will be charged
- If it is less than five (5) days’ notice you are not eligible to change your course or exam date
- Changes made more than 60 days in advance of the course or exam will not be charged an administration fee
canfitpro reserves the right to cancel a previously scheduled course if minimal participation requirements are not met. Your PRO TRAINER will contact you should a course be cancelled. Please confirm the status of your course with your PRO TRAINER prior to attending. If a course is cancelled by the PRO TRAINER, canfitpro will work with you to reschedule your course or exam. If we are unable to reschedule, participants may be eligible for a refund of course or exam fees, and membership (only within 30 days of purchase). Course materials are non-refundable.
