En plus de l’articulation de l’épaule, nous y trouvons également la région de l’épaule qui se compose de la scapula, la clavicule, l’humérus, la coiffe des rotateurs et les muscles de soutien comme le trapèze, le pectoral et le deltoïde. Dans la posture du Triangle, elles allongent les bras de côté, elles élèvent les bras vers le ciel dans celle de l’Arbre, dans la posture du Dauphin elles portent notre poids et elles supportent notre torse dans celle de la Chandelle. Par conséquent, nous devons développer des épaules fortes afin de progresser avec facilité des postures fondamentales comme le Chien tête baissée vers des postures plus avancées comme l’équilibre sur la tête. Le yoga permet de comprendre la complexité de l’épaule, de réduire le risque de blessures et d’augmenter la force.
