Under the direction of the Recreation Complex Services Supervisor, this position is responsible for monitoring and assisting clientele in the weight room and providing safe instruction on the equipment.

Wage $22.60- $24.44 hourly (2023)
Reports To Supervisor, Lindsay Recreation Complex
Department Community Services
Location Lindsay Recreation Complex
Hours Normal Working Hours up to 24 hours per week, includes days, evenings and weekends
Other General office environment. Some travel throughout the City of Kawartha Lakes may be necessary in accordance with job requirements.
Job Description
- Ensures the safety of all patrons attending the weight room
- Supports clientele in the proper use of equipment and free weights
- Secures equipment and completes regular inspections
- Cleans the weight room equipment and facility
- Greets customers and explains division health and wellness programs and personal training services
- Delivers weight room orientations for new and potential users
- Maintains daily attendant logs
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Skills/Education Required
- Personal Trainer Specialist current certification
- Current Standard First Aid and CPR
- Previous experience in recreation and/or fitness industry
- Knowledge and experience with proper weight lifting techniques
- Self-motivated with a demonstrated ability to function independently and in teamwork situations
- Excellent leadership, administration and interpersonal skills with a proven focus on customer service, complemented by superb organization, team building and multi-tasking skills
- Excellent communication skills with attention to detail and accuracy
- Demonstrated professional and ethical responsibility to protect privacy, use confidential information appropriately, treat sensitive situations with appropriate degree of tact and discretion
- Excellent time-management skills with the ability to prioritize workload and meet deadlines
- Ability to demonstrate initiative consistently with commitment to quality improvement, sharing process improvement initiatives with management
- Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office to create documents, schedules and conduct data searches, the internet, and any other related program software
- Upon a conditional offer of employment, a Criminal Record Check, including a Vulnerable Sector Search will be required
