Eating for the purposes of health is actually a recent development in the history for humans. It has only been the last 100 years that we have had a choice of what to eat as opposed to eating what has been available. Now we are choosing to eat to modify appearance, fuel athletic performance which may include weight loss at any cost misperceptions that leaner means better performance, or eating certain foods to belong to an exclusive group or status which includes following trendy diets that may focus on individual nutrients and supplementation…all to be what society deems as healthy and beautiful.
